Oliver’s Gibberish: Fisheye Talk

There are many things I love in life…and two of these are cars and photography so tonight I’m going to talk about both. I was watching Pimp My Ride at my friend’s house and then Mr. Xzhibit inspired me to take photos of his new phat ride. We’re currently working on this car as our own little project…It’s just been dropped on KWV3s and barely clears one egg carton…drop it like it’s hot! How low can you gooooooo? Seriously? Not much more…

Shooting at a low angle with a super wide lens will make the subject appear much bigger and taller than it actually is and you get that really exaggerated look. And when I mean low, I mean get onto the floor.

I wanted to make it look extremely PHAT so I shot with my Sigma 15mm F2.8ex 180 Fisheye Lens on a 5DII. This lens is very similar to the Canon EF 15mm F2.8. I have owned and used quite a few of these fisheye lenses such as Sigma 8mm F3.5 EX DG Circular Fisheye, Sigma 10mm F2.8 EX DC  HSM Fisheye and the Zenitar 16mm F2.8 (Manual Russian Fisheye). Each performs quite differently- the only similarity is that they all distort the images quite profoundly. I’ll eventually write a review when I get around to it. Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of the new Canon EF 8-15mm F4L Fisheye.

Alright..back to work..I have a lot of editing to catch up on…
