Yen & Joe’s Wedding in Australia

Joe a.k.a. Zhou Zhou went to St Peter’s Primary School Rochedale with me in year 5 and 6. We have known each other for twenty years… (does this give my age away?…) It was my privilege when he asked me to be his wedding photographer (Well he knows me long enough to know that if he went with someone else, I would have kicked his buttocks!) I caught up with many old friends on the day. The girls have gone prettier, and guys have stayed pretty much the same.. except for the extra “few” pounds around the waistline..@@ Welcome to the 30-club…

Joe is a avid fisherman (look at the wedding cake below), and only relinquished it to 2nd place after his Mrs, Yen appeared on the scene. During his reception speeches, I was moved when he said that he almost sold his fishing boat so he could buy the biggest ring possible for Yen (if it was me… I will probably keep my boat and … buy a hugeeee http://www.secrets-shhh.com ….LOL!) This girl must mean a whole world to him. They go on fishing trips together, and I know one thing Joe will hate me reminding him about.. That YEN CAUGHT THE BIGGEST MANGROVE JACK between the two of them. Trust me.. I have seen that elusive fish?!?. they had to clean it in their bathtub..  that monster was that huge. And I think the new story is Yen still holds the record for barramundi as well!

Hope they live happily ever after, and invite me on their next fishing adventure!

These photos were prepared for their wedding reception in Guangzhou, China the following week after the Australian wedding ceremony.

Hope you enjoyed their day.

By the way, if you are new to the Asian wedding scene, there are a lot of  tea ceremonies, “wedding games” and toasting. The urban legend is that it brings happiness and good luck. The only down side of all the festivities is that the groom is made to scull down excessively large amounts of alcohol in a short period of time that he is practically incapacitated during the reception. But our man Joe is the man! I heard the  party continued well into sunrise… (side note: He didn’t vomit while I was around, the bridal party even prepared the vomit bag just in case…. he posed for me as if he was throwing up…)

Wonderful photos, Oliver, and a great day of wonderful memories for Yen and Joe. I was so privileged to be their celebrant and have this beautiful couple come into my life.
